Toolbelt

What is toolbelt ?
I was just wondering what is this toolbelt theory is all about and why is important in ICT and Why is it important for teachers. I have learnt that teacher’s role nowadays have to teach our students how to analyse tasks, the task-completion environment, their own skills and capabilities, an appropriate range of available tools… and let them start to make their own decisions. This is where the TEST (Task, Environment, Skills, Tools) framework uses in Socol’s Toolbelt theory.I personally like the idea the author mentioned “We are humans. We are tool users. We are defined as humans by our constantly changing tools. Those tools, in turn, actually change who we are, as they alter our capabilities. Your school must be a tool shop, where tools are demonstrated, taught, considered, respected, used, and deliberately chosen. Because we cannot afford to send our students out without the toolbelts they need to function in their future world.” (Socol, 2009).As a result, we teachers must always keep updated by preparing students to use the 21st century technology because technologies and our ecological are changing every day.
